Perfect afternoon DIY Project

I give this five stars, not for what it is...but for its potential. Out of the box, it is terrible. But Dell was nice enough to make it easily upgradable. Add 8GB of RAM, and a 250GB (or larger) NVME M.2 SSD, and you have a real BEAST. If you upgrade it properly, it will benchmark faster than the Asus zenbook 3, which is currently on sale for about a thousand bucks, and that is the sale price. But if you are careful, you will spend less than 400 bucks on computer plus upgrades (not including tax or shipping). Oh, and it comes with a 1TB hard drive you can use for extra storage, which is why you can upgrade it with a very small SSD. This thing benchmarks (after upgrades) right in the middle between current generation i5 systems and current generation i7 systems. For 400 bucks?!?!?!?!?

Killer laptop once you uprade

Let me start by saying, that out of the box this laptop stinks. Selling a laptop with 4 GB of RAM, a spinning HDD and Windows 10 is borderline criminal. It's a great way to have the average user pulling out their hair in frustration. Although Microsoft says that Windows 10 will run on 2 GB of RAM, by the time you fire up Office, Chrome and have the anti-virus running in the background, you will regret running Windows on 4 GB of RAM However, this laptop has something other laptops at this price range do not provide, upgradability. It has an M.2 nvme SSD slot and can be upgraded with up to 32 GB of RAM. Honestly with Word, Excel and the rest of the Office suite now being accessible online through Office 365 and Steam now allowing you to play thousands of Windows based games on Linux, there really shouldn't be a need for the average user to stick to Windows. However, If you decide to keep Windows as your operating system, I highly recommend upgrading to at least 8 GB of RAM and invest in an SSD. As for me, Windows is not my cup of tea, so after upgrading to 16 GB of RAM for $70 and buying a 250 M.2 for $40 I installed Manjaro Linux. I get boot times in under 15 seconds and decent frame rates on most of my games. In full disclosure though, a lot of the games I play are a few years old, so don't think that this is going to be a gaming laptop you cans use to play the latest and greatest. Overall this is a great laptop for anyone who is willing to either upgrade it themselves or have it done for them. The only real issues I have are the screen being a little blurry but it is not so bad that it should deter you from considering this laptop. Also, I really wish it came with a lighted keyboard. Other than those 2 issues, this is a killer laptop with great potential at a phenomenal price.

Needed some help

Over all, a pretty good computer for the money. Putting up with a slow hard drive and 1, 4gb stick of memory really slow this potiental “beast of a computer” down. I replaces the orginal hard drive with an 1tb ssd and addes an extra 4gb stick of memory in the empty memory slot and now tje xomputer runs fast. From power on to comppetely started is jist umder 6 seconds. Now the compiter is ready to do some work and gaming.

Happy camper after a few upgrades to this laptop

So glad I read ALL the reviews before buying this laptop. After reading a review that mentioned adding a 256GB M.2 PCIe drive and adding more memory and replacing slow hard drive with SSD, which I've done now and upgrading the bios (recommended by Dell as well), I'm now a happy with the laptop. I now have 20 gig memory and 256GB M.2 PCIe drive to boot from and an additional 480 GB SSD drive. Very happy with this setup now.

Avoid this One

Screen is Awful for saying it is HD... Twisted Pair Junk from Dell. Putting a Spinning HDD with a Ryzen 5 APU is really dumb. Unless you like waiting 3 or 4 minutes for it to boot up.

Dear God, this was awful. I've had it for a little over a year, and the lag is awful. Had to switch computers this year--which I was not happy about since $500 a year on a computer is nothing so sneeze at.
